Why Do need I Health Insurance?

  • Medical care in the U.S. is expensive!
  • Health insurance offers vital financial protection.

 

NMSU requires all F-1 and J-1 students and their dependents to have medical health insurance.

  • F-1 and J-1(students) in the the U.S. and enrolled in classes at any NMSU system campus, are required to have the NMSU student health insurance coverage. The coverage is administered through Aggie Health and Wellness Center. However, some students may qualify for NMSU insurance waivers. See more information below.
  • F-2 and J-2 dependents are required to have health insurance. However, they may purchase non-NMSU plans.

Health Insurance Plans Options for F-2 and J-2

All F-2 and J-2 dependents in the USA are required to have valid health insurance at all times. It is the sole responsibility of the student to make sure that the dependents have valid insurance.NMSU highly recommends dependents to purchase coverage from VISIT® International Health Insurance Plan. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Make sure purchase coverage for the entire semester.
  • You can choose the deductible of your choice (i.e. $500, $250, $100, or $0).
  • Select the $100,000 medical option only.
  • After receiving the insurance, please email isss@nmsu.edu the proof of insurance coverage along with your Aggie ID number.
