Transportation

Aggie Transit is a free student service provided by NMSU Aggie Transit and provides free shuttle routes that transport riders with a valid Aggie ID from free parking lots (identified in brown on the parking map). It operates when class is in session and does not operate during breaks and holidays.

 

Runner Road Transit - The City of Las Cruces provides public transportation through RoadRUNNER Transit. RoadRUNNER Transit operates 8 bus routes throughout the city, with service to major shopping areas, employment centers, healthcare facilities, and recreation destinations.

 

NMDOT Park& Ride using NMDOT Park and Ride using this express bus service is less expensive than driving your own car, and it will give you time to relax. Check their Purple, Green, Red, Blue, orange and Gold Routes. Check their Gold Routes to travel to & from Las Cruces to El Paso. They also offer Monthly passes. Uber and Lyft Uber and Lyft are two-ride share operators that pick up from El Paso airport. Rides can be reserved through the Lyft and Uber apps. The estimated cost for an Uber/Lyft ride from the airport to Las Cruces is $70 or more. Other factors may affect the price such as specific destinations, surge pricing, etc

 

Pete’s Pick Up  Whether you’ve been studying late at the library had a late extracurricular meeting, or if you’re out late on campus for any other reason, you can always call Pete’s Pick-Up for a safe escort to your car or dorm. Just call 575-646-1111 and within minutes a driver will be there to safely pick you up.

Parking on Campus Student Parking permits can only be purchased online from the official site at NMSU Parking Online – not in person.

  • All permits will be mailed. Once logged into the parking portal click “Manage Account” and verify your mailing address is correct to prevent a delay in receiving your permit. NOTE: Housing students will pick up their resident parking permit from the Parking & ID Services office.

    • If the address is incorrect, click ‘Edit’ and once saved remove any old addresses.

  • To prevent delay in receiving your Fall /Spring permit, please make sure you are selecting the correct permit type based on your accommodation status:

    • If you live off campus – choose the ‘Commuter Student ′ permit.
    • If you live in Juniper Hall, Garcia Hall, Rhodes-Garrett-Hamiel, Pinon Hall or Chamisa– choose the ‘ Resident Student ′ permit.
    • If you live in the Vista Del Monte apartments or Family housing – choose the ‘ Resident South Campus ′ permit
