Unless the applicant qualifies for an exception (See "Check eligible test scores" under Step 1: Check Eligibility for Undergraduate Admissions for more details), the applicant must have his/her TOEFL or IELTS score sent directly from the respective testing organization to NMSU. Test scores uploaded by the applicant to the application and email attachments sent from the applicant's personal email are NOT acceptable.
For TOEFL, use NMSU Institution Code 4531 to send your official score. See more information on Sending Your TOEFL iBT Scores .
For IELTS, the test score is delivered to receiving institution by postal mail (default) or electronic download (opt-in service). Unlike TOEFL, IELTS does not use institution codes. NMSU's preferred method of IELTS score delivery is electronic download. Contact the test center directly and request that your score be sent ELECTRONICALLY to NMSU, Undergraduate Admissions, Las Cruces, NM.
**For regular NMSU Undergraduate Admission, see the minimum required TOEFL or IELTS score below:
**Academic departments reserve the right to require higher TOEFL/IELTS standards
Applicants may be admitted with scores lower than those listed above and, in such cases, would be conditional based on the TOEFL or IELTS score.

Official score must be sent directly from the testing organization.
